Carole Carson Fitness and Weight Loss Handout

What is Carole Carson’s mission?

The Wall Street Journal (April 1, 2007) called Carole “An Apostle for Fitness.” She encourages individuals of all ages and sizes to adopt healthier habits. Carole lost 60 pounds and now helps others make lifestyle changes.

What is Carole’s philosophy on fitness?

Carole uses the acronym FIT to summarize her approach:

F = Fun: Find healthy foods you love to eat and exercises you love to do.

I = Individualize: Come up with your own unique program appropriate for your age, physical condition, preferences and situation.

T = Together: Team up with others. Get help from professionals (such as a doctor, personal trainer and physical therapist) and support from friends and family.

What practical steps can a person take to lose weight and get fit?

Here is Carole’s seven-step process:

1. Decide to make a change.
2. Announce your plan.
3. Assemble a team of supporters.
4. Design your own program, including goals and timelines.
5. Establish a system of accountability to others.
6. Read, study and learn about nutrition and exercise.
7. Become an advocate for fitness.
